1. Organising an online briefing session on the 2024 Policy Address for members of the Chief Executive’s Policy Unit (CEPU) Expert Group
The CEPU organised an online briefing session on the 2024 Policy Address for the CEPU Expert Group members. In his opening remarks, Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, expressed special thanks to the Expert Group members for putting forth their views and suggestions. He also expressed his gratitude to the member for their generous sharing of expertise, insights and research findings in their respective fields, and highlighted that the members’ contributions have provided important references for the Policy Address. Dr Wong also expressed his expectation of fostering the close liaison and co-operation with the Expert Group members.

2. Organising an online briefing session on the 2024 Policy Address for think tanks
The CEPU organised an online briefing session on the 2024 Policy Address for about 60 think tanks from the community and universities. Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, briefly introduced the key initiatives of the 2024 Policy Address. He thanked the think tanks for proactively submitting recommendations during the Policy Address consultation, and remarked that many of the findings had been taken into account for and subsumed in the Policy Address.

3. Meeting with representatives of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA)
Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, met with representatives of the AIMA, including Mr Michael Bugel, Managing Director and Co-Head of APAC of the AIMA; Mr Jeremy Lam, Partner and Head of the Financial Services Practice of Deacons; Mr Darren Bowdern, Head of Asset Management Tax, KPMG ASPAC and Head of Alternative Investments, Hong Kong, KPMG China; Mr Phillip Meyer, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Oasis Management Company; and Mr Murray Steel, Chief Operating Officer, APAC, Qube Research & Technologies, to discuss ways to enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness as an international financial centre.

4. Attending the Economic Policy Committee meeting of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) to introduce the key initiatives of the 2024 Policy Address
Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, attended the meeting of the Economic Policy Committee of the HKGCC to introduce the key initiatives of the 2024 Policy Address, including those relating to Hong Kong’s role in serving as the “three centres and a hub” as outlined in the Resolution adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, as well as the promotion of the development of the Northern Metropolis and the deepening of collaboration within the Greater Bay Area (GBA). He also exchanged views with the members of the Committee.

5. Meeting with Mr Cobe Zhang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ZAN, and Ms Jennifer Tan, Executive Vice-President of the Strategy Development and Government Affairs, GBA of the Ant Group
Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, met with Mr Cobe Zhang, CEO of ZAN, the Web3 brand of the Ant Digital Technologies, and Ms Jennifer Tan, Executive Vice-President of Strategy Development and Government Affairs, GBA of the Ant Group, to discuss the development of the tokenisation market in Hong Kong.

6. Meeting with Mr Simon Chan, Chairman, and Dr Rocky Cheng, CEO of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited
Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, and Dr Wang Chunxin, Deputy Head of the CEPU, met with Mr Simon Chan, Chairman, and Dr Rocky Cheng, CEO of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, to discuss the latest developments of Cyberport on the work relating to the Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Centre and data exchange etc..

7. Meeting with Professor Tam Kar-yan, Dean of the School of Business and Management of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, met with Professor Tam Kar-yan, Dean of the School of Business and Management of the HKUST, to learn more about his study on the trends of financial talents mobility in Hong Kong, London and Singapore.

Apart from touring the automated and traditional warehouses of Kerry Logistics, the team also met with the company’s representatives, Mr Eddie Mak, Deputy Chief Financial Officer; Mr Samuel Lau, Managing Director – Integrated Logistics Asia; and Mr Tony Leung, Deputy Director – Integrated Logistics, to discuss the transformation and development trends of Hong Kong’s transport and logistics industry in recent years.

9. Holding a briefing session on the 2024 Policy Address for the new generation community leaders
The CEPU held a briefing session on the 2024 Policy Address for the new generation community leaders from various sectors to introduce the key initiatives of the Policy Address relating to the future positioning and competitiveness of Hong Kong, such as the strategic development of Hong Kong as an international financial centre, the establishment of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board and the creation of a commodity trading ecosystem.
More than 40 new generation community leaders attended the session. They actively expressed positive views on the Policy Address, and expressed their appreciation of the Policy Address for having had incorporated their views and recommendations submitted during its consultation.
