31 October 2023
The Chief Executive’s Policy Unit (CEPU) held a briefing session on the 2023 Policy Address on 31 October 2023 to brief members of the CEPU Expert Group on the content of the Policy Address, with a view to canvassing their professional opinions and exchanging views with them.
Dr Stephen WONG, the Head of the CEPU, thanked members of the Expert Group for their invaluable advice to the Government during the consultation period of the 2023 Policy Address. This Policy Address represents proactive efforts of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to introduce immediate, short-, medium- and long-term measures in full steam upon Hong Kong’s full recovery after the epidemic, covering areas on both the macro-level and the micro-level and involving both the internal and external aspects of Hong Kong. Some of these measures are visionary, while some are pragmatic; and some of them involve policies that connect Hong Kong to our country and to the world as well, affirming the belief of the Chief Executive that both offensive and defensive strategies should be put in place. Members of the Expert Group generally agree with the policy directions set out in the Policy Address, and are delighted to see that the Policy Address aims to develop “a vibrant economy” and create “a caring community” for Hong Kong.
Other CEPU officials in attendance included Ms Hinny LAM, Deputy Head, Dr WANG Chunxin, Deputy Head, Mr CHAN Fong-ming, Assistant Head and Mr William TSANG, Assistant Head.
